Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah today inaugurated the Ran Janakashak ‘projects under Dial 112 in Ahmedabad, giving a big push towards smart policing and civil security in Gujarat. The event was attended by Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for State Sri Harsh Sanghvi.
Shri. Shah described Dial 112 as a visionary initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to ensure internal security, protect the rights of citizens, maintain law and order and provide quick emergency response. With this, Gujarat has joined the nationwide ‘112 Janakshak’ network.
Highlighting the importance of the project, Shri. Shah said, “So far, people were confused with police, fire, ambulances, women’s helpline, child helpline and disaster services with many toll-free numbers. Now, by dialing only 112, all emergency and safety services will be available in one place.”
A fleet of 1,000 GPS-competent public guard PCR van, which is equipped with modern facilities such as light bar, MDT wireless sets and location trackers, was launched to serve the public. These vehicles will be monitored through a state emergency response center in Ahmedabad, which will work 24/7 with a capacity of 150 seats.
Union Home Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed residential and office projects priced by the Gujarat Police Housing Board for police, home guards and jail staff. He expressed his personal pride that Mansa police station received BIS certification, as Mansa is his birthplace.
Shri. Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi as the Chief Minister, Gujarat made its borders “impregnable for enemies”, and since then the state has emerged as a model in curbing terrorism, drug trade and cyber crime.
He recalled India’s strong reactions to terrorist attacks including surgical attacks, air strikes and operation sindoor, which said, a clear message sent that India is committed to defending its people and borders.
Reiterating the Modi government’s zero-oppression policy against terrorism, Shri. Shah said, “More than 10,000 terrorists have surrendered in the northeast. On 31 March, 2026, Naxalism will be completely abolished from the country-this is our resolve.”
Prior to the launch, Shri. Shah also inaugurated urban health centers in Gota and Chandlodia wards, planted trees in Ranip, Stadium and Ghatlodia areas, and paid the command at the ancient Shri Bhadrakali Mataji, the Kuldevi of Ahmedabad city He also inaugurated the Sardar Bug redeveloped by the Torrent Group -UNM Foundation.
