Election Commission started the first training program for more than 1 lakh booth level officers (BLOS) in IIIDEM

The Election Commission (EC) has introduced training program for more than 1 lakh booth level officers (BLOS) for the first time to strengthen India’s electoral system. The training program was organized at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. The program was inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mr. Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi.

109 Blos from Bihar, West Bengal and Assam participated in this 2-day residential training program, including 24 Election Registration Officer (ERO) and 13 District Election Officer (DEO). This training is mainly to introduce Blos to their duties and responsibilities, so that they can update electoral rolls without any error. This program will create Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTS) to strengthen the network of BLOS at the national level.

This training program will make BLOs aware of their functions and responsibilities under the 1950 RP Act, 1960 Election Rules and Election Commission’s instructions. In addition, they will also be trained about the process of filling the form required for the flawless update of electoral rolls and the IT applications.

CEC Mr. Dnyanesh Kumar, while accepting important tasks of Election Registration Officers (ERO) and BLOS, called upon the state governments to nominate SDM levels or equivalent officers as ERO. He also said that BLOS should treat voters beauty, especially during the update of electoral rolls.

This training program is an important step to ensure the correct and flawless electoral process, and the Election Commission will always stand with India’s 100 million voters.
