Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, inaugurated Indraprastha Gas Limited’s (IGL) modern Waste-to-Green Energy Plant located at Ghogha Dairy on Narela–Bawana Road. The event was attended by senior officials including Ashish Sood, Minister of Home and Urban Development, Yogendra Chandolia, Member of Parliament, and top IGL executives.
Spanning 12,000 square meters, the plant processes over 100 tons of waste daily, producing approximately 4 tons of compressed biogas (CBG), equivalent to 3,000 LPG cylinders per day. Equipped with a 6,000-cubic-meter digester, it generates 4,000 kg of natural gas daily to fuel nearly 3,000 CNG vehicles. The plant also produces 15 tons of solid and 50,000 liters of liquid fertilizer annually. By diverting 36,000 tons of waste yearly from landfills, it contributes significantly toward a cleaner, greener Delhi. The land was provided by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), while IGL funded and set up the plant.
Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, Managing Director of IGL, emphasized that the plant aligns with the vision of clean energy and energy security. He thanked the Chief Minister and assured the commitment to establishing many more such plants in Delhi to support the government’s clean and green mission. He noted that apart from waste management, these plants also reduce energy imports by producing gas domestically.
Mohit Bhatia, Director (Commercial) at IGL, extended thanks during his vote of thanks, describing the inauguration as a landmark moment in sustainable urban infrastructure and green mobility for Delhi.
