Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has partnered with UltraTech Cement Limited to implement rail-based bulk cement transport using specialized tank containers, marking a significant step toward sustainable and efficient logistics solutions in India’s cement sector.
Agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR, and KC Jhanwar, Managing Director of UltraTech Cement. Under this collaboration, UltraTech will transport bulk cement from its Karnataka manufacturing units to CONCOR’s terminal at Dronagiri, Maharashtra using dedicated rail tank containers.
Partnership emphasizes CONCOR’s commitment to green and multimodal logistics, reducing reliance on road transport, lowering fuel consumption, and cutting carbon emissions. By leveraging rail infrastructure for bulk cement movement, CONCOR and UltraTech aim to enhance operational efficiency while promoting environmentally responsible logistics.
With a nationwide logistics network supporting over 50,000 trucks, 60+ daily rakes, 1,350 warehouses, and 300+ railheads, this collaboration also strengthens UltraTech’s distribution capacity, ensuring faster and more sustainable deliveries to meet India’s growing infrastructure demands.
This initiative highlights CONCOR’s leadership in innovative, low-carbon logistics solutions and demonstrates its active role in supporting industry partners in building resilient and eco-friendly supply chains.
