Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan met the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi and discussed the inclusive rural development and agricultural related issues related to the state. The Center has confirmed its strong support for Rajasthan’s rural economy with the approval of Rs 4,384 crore issued under MNREGA and new housing under PMAY-Gramin.
Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan held a high -level meeting with Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi today. The two leaders held a comprehensive discussion focused on strengthening the rural infrastructure of the state and furthering agricultural development. In this meeting, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Bhagirath Chaudhary, Agriculture Secretary Mr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Rural Development Secretary Mr. Shailesh Singh, Director General of ICAR, Dr. M.L. Jat, and senior officials of the Center and Rajasthan Government were also present.
The objective of the meeting was to strengthen inclusive rural development and ensure that Rajasthan had continuous central support in areas such as housing, employment, irrigation and agriculture. Flagship was focused on ensuring timely assistance to rural communities through welfare schemes.
Shri Chouhan announced that Rs 4,384 crore has been released to Rajasthan under MNREGA, including:
1. ₹ 3,286 crore for wages
2. ₹ 944 Crore for Material Cost
3. ₹ 154 crore for administrative expenses
At the residence, the Union Minister appreciated the progress of PMAY-rural in the state and assured that after the survey verification, approval for 7.46 lakh new houses under PM-JANMAN would be accelerated.
The minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive language and action, ensuring that the benefits of central schemes reached all communities, especially remote and tribal areas.
The discussion discussed effective implementation of schemes like “Per drop more crops” (PMKSY) and fencing for the construction of rainwater harvesting structures and fencing for crop protection.
Shri. Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister proposed the appointment of agricultural supervisors at the gram panchayat level for better reach and guidance.
- The Union Minister welcomed the suggestion and emphasized the importance of localized, inclusive solutions.
- The conversation was also focused on promoting the recognition of interstate peanut varieties of Rajasthan and castor oil production.
- Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister reported favorable monsoon conditions, resulting in better agricultural produce in 2025.
