Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at India Energy Week 2026 to collaborate on the supply of polypropylene feedstock aligned with BPCL’s upcoming Petrochemical Residue Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit (PRFCCU) at the Mumbai Refinery.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Tarun Kumar, BPCL, and Mr. Rajesh Rawat, Reliance Industries Limited, in the presence of Shri Manoj Menon, Business Head (Industrial & Commercial), BPCL.
The collaboration is aimed at ensuring a reliable and efficient feedstock supply for BPCL’s expanding petrochemical operations, supporting higher value addition and integration at the refinery. By enabling pipeline-based logistics, the arrangement promotes safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible transportation while reducing dependence on imports.
The MoU aligns with key national priorities, including Make in India, import substitution, and the development of a resilient domestic petrochemical ecosystem. It also supports India’s long-term energy transition objectives by strengthening downstream value chains and enhancing self-reliance in critical petrochemical intermediates.
Through this partnership, BPCL and Reliance Industries seek to leverage their complementary strengths to build a future-ready petrochemical value chain that supports industrial growth, supply security, and sustainability. The collaboration reflects the role of industry partnerships in advancing national energy and manufacturing goals while reinforcing India’s position as a competitive and integrated hub for petrochemical production.
