26th SAFE Annual Convention, organised by the Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE) under the Safe Journey (सुरक्षित सफर) initiative, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to discuss strategies for road safety and sustainable mobility. The event, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, focused on the theme “Together for Safe Roads and Green Mobility: Building a Sustainable India.”
The convention was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, as Chief Guest and Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister for Environment, Forest & Wildlife, Industries, Food & Supplies, Delhi, as Guest of Honour. Industry leaders, government officials, and experts shared insights on responsible driving, accident prevention, EV adoption, and sustainable transport solutions.
The convention highlighted India’s progress in electrification of mobility, battery energy storage, and clean energy adoption, with more than two million EVs on the road in 2024, driving a circular transport economy. Key discussions emphasized stricter traffic enforcement, digital vehicle systems, emergency response, and comprehensive accident data management to reduce road fatalities.
SAFE launched the SAFE Road Safety Context Paper and initiated programs to engage college students in road safety awareness. Panel discussions stressed the role of education, engineering, enforcement, emergency care, and evaluation in creating a safer road ecosystem. Experts showcased innovative solutions for accident prevention, infrastructure planning, and promoting responsible driving behaviour.
SIAM reaffirmed its commitment to building safe and green mobility across India through initiatives in EV adoption, ethanol promotion, recycling, gas-based mobility, and hydrogen fuel development. The convention underscored collaborative efforts between government, industry, and citizens to advance road safety and sustainable transport as integral components of India’s growth story.
