THDC India Limited (THDCIL) successfully synchronised Unit-2 (660 MW) of its Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (2×660 MW) with the National Grid, marking a decisive step towards the commissioning of the project and strengthening India’s energy security.
Shri R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director, THDCIL, said, “The synchronization of Unit-2 reaffirms THDCIL’s commitment to expanding India’s power generation capacity and advancing its diversified energy portfolio. This project demonstrates our focus on operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and creating a balanced, sustainable energy mix with advanced boilers, turbines, and state-of-the-art emission control systems including FGD and Low-NOx burners.”
Shri Shallinder Singh, adding significance to the occasion. CMD Vishnoi lauded the THDCIL Board’s proactive decisions and praised the Khurja STPP team’s relentless efforts in ensuring the steady progress of the project.
Shri Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), highlighted that the synchronization of Unit-2 showcases THDCIL’s technical strength in executing complex power projects. With both units now in advanced stages, the project is positioned to provide reliable base load power critical during peak demand periods.
Shri Kumar Sharad, Executive Director (Project), credited the achievement to the dedication of the entire Khurja STPP team. Senior officials including Sh. B.K. Sahoo (GM-O&M), Sh. R.M. Dubey (GM-Electrical), Sh. Shailesh Dhyani (GM-Mechanical), Sh. Sandeep Bhatnagar (GM-Finance), and representatives from NTPC Consultancy, BHEL, LMB, STEAG, and GE were present at the event.
₹13,000 crore Khurja STPP, located in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, is THDCIL’s strategic diversification into the thermal power sector, complementing its renewable portfolio to strengthen India’s long-term energy security and self-reliance. The equity of THDCIL is shared between NTPC and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
