Taking an important step towards the Pure-Zero (NET-ZERO) targets, Tel India Limited (OIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) signed a Memorandum (MOU) on 17 April 2025 at the Oil Headquarters, Duliajan on 17 April 2025. Under this agreement, strategic cooperation has been established between the two companies for the sale and purchase of carbon dioxide (CO₂).
This mou was signed by the Resident Chief Executive of Oil (FHQ) Mr. Rupjyoti Fukan and NRL Chief General Manager (Corporate Affairs) Mr. Nalini Kant Buragohen. Senior officials of both institutions were present on the occasion.
Under the agreement, NRL will set up special features to capture carbon dioxide from its existing hydrogen unit. The co₂ generated in this process will be supplied to the oil, which will use it in its carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) / carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
This cooperation reflects the commitment to reduce the environmental impact of oil and NRL jointly and to work in permanent energy. This initiative will play an important role in realizing India’s climate goals and green energy infections.
