REC Limited and THDCIL Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen India’s Energy Sector.

REC Limited and THDC India Limited (THDCIL) have formalized a key collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership is aimed at advancing the development of diverse power projects across the nation, including hydroelectric, thermal, and renewable energy projects. Shri R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDCIL, expressed his enthusiasm for this landmark agreement, highlighting the shared commitment to strengthening India’s energy infrastructure.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework under which REC Limited will provide financial backing for THDCIL’s various energy initiatives. These projects, estimated at an investment of ₹35,000 crores, focus on power generation, supply system upgrades, maintenance, and renovation. Additionally, the collaboration will prioritize energy conservation, efficiency improvements, and support for coal mining and fuel supply infrastructure to meet the country’s growing energy needs.

Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan (IAS), Chairman and Managing Director of REC, and Shri Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) of THDCIL, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. Shri Gupta emphasized that the partnership reinforces both organizations’ dedication to advancing renewable energy capabilities and providing reliable power across the country. He also highlighted key projects under THDCIL’s portfolio, including a 10,000 MW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Rajasthan, 6790 MW of Pumped Storage Projects in Maharashtra, 3500 MW of Pumped Storage in Chhattisgarh, and solar and hydroelectric initiatives in other states.

The MoU also paves the way for potential funding of future projects and collaborative training programs. Effective immediately, the agreement is valid for five years, with provisions for extension and amendments as mutually agreed. Both parties are committed to a productive and harmonious collaboration, ensuring confidentiality and dispute resolution as outlined in the agreement.

Other dignitaries present at the signing ceremony included Shri Harsh Baweja, Director (Finance), REC, Shri Saurabh Rastogi, Executive Director (REC), Shri Mayank Jain, GM (THDCIL), and Shri Harsh Kumar, AGM (THDCIL).
