In a major boost to India’s renewable energy infrastructure, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for POWERGRID’s transmission system strengthening project at Kurnool-III Pooling Station. The project aims to integrate additional renewable energy (RE) generation projects in the region.
The ceremony was graced by Shri S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Konidala Pawan Kalyan, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, and other distinguished dignitaries.
Valued at ₹2,886 crore, the project includes the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station–Chilakaluripeta transmission line. Once commissioned, it will enhance transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA, facilitating large-scale evacuation of renewable energy and supporting India’s energy transition and economic growth.
