Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, convened a high-level meeting today to review preparations for the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, scheduled to be hosted in Chandigarh under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
Dr. Jitendra Singh reviewed logistical plans, exhibition layouts, and program integration across departments. He instructed all ministries to launch a sustained awareness campaign targeting schools, students, and parents to ensure maximum participation during the festival.
IISF 2025 aims to bring science closer to society, transforming from a scientific showcase into a participatory public event. The focus on student engagement, citizen-science initiatives, and startup participation is intended to foster innovation, scientific temper, and youth involvement across the country.
Ministries and state governments of Haryana and Chandigarh will organize science fairs, mobile exhibits, regional roadshows, and local media promotions ahead of the festival, “Science communication hubs” will be mapped in every district, supported by youth ambassadors to create teaser installations in public spaces.
Dedicated student innovation zones, interactive exhibits, and startup pavilions will be integrated into the festival venue, startups will be handheld and nurtured, ensuring they are showcased prominently rather than sidelined.

The nodal departments have been tasked to coordinate cross-ministry clearances, finalize program layouts, and strengthen media partnerships. The festival will feature exhibitions, youth forums, interactive science theatre, and public engagement tracks to reach students, families, and local communities effectively.
IISF 2025 will be held in Chandigarh, with preparatory outreach events being organized across Haryana and Chandigarh in the coming months to maximize student and public participation.
The meeting highlighted a shift in focus toward inclusive, hands-on science engagement, ensuring IISF 2025 becomes a must-visit event for students and citizens alike, fostering a culture of curiosity, innovation, and scientific awareness.
