At the ‘Conference on Mediation in Public Sector’ on 30 November 2024, ONGC Chairman Arun Kumar Singh underscored the critical role of timely dispute resolution in fostering long-term, positive relationships among parties. He encouraged Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to adopt mediation practices, emphasizing their potential to resolve conflicts effectively while enhancing India’s global image.
Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs and Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, advocated for investing in youth development to cultivate a new generation of arbitrators and mediators, promoting a culture of peaceful conflict resolution and collaboration.
ONGC Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), Arunangshu Sarkar, highlighted ONGC’s pioneering efforts in mediation for dispute resolution since 1998, making it the first PSU to adopt such practices. He also detailed the success of the company’s Outside Experts Council (OEC) Mechanism and its innovative online portal (oec.ongc.co.in), which have significantly accelerated the resolution of disputes.
This conference reaffirms ONGC’s leadership in promoting efficient and collaborative dispute resolution mechanisms in India’s public sector.
