The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India concluded its two -day open hearing and the camp sitting in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, addressing 144 cases of human rights violations and recommended a total monetary relief of ₹ 28 lakh.
The objective of the hearing is to provide justice and relief to the victims of human rights violations and to strengthen the human rights ecosystem in Odisha to connect with state officials, civil society and NGOs directly.

38 cases shut down post-hearing; Closed after submission of 3 compliance report
A compensation of ₹ 4 lakh was recommended by the families of every 5 workers, who died in a cracker factory Cases were addressed to custodial deaths, police atrocities, crime, smuggling, and denial of basic facilities against women and children.
Interim reliefs such as pension, ₹ 15,000, and social welfare benefits were directed in specific cases

The Commission interacted with HRDS and NGOs, highlighted issues like transgender, police reforms and witchcraft practices. A tribute was paid to the late human rights defender Mr. Radhakant Tripathi.
