In ongoing pursuits to promote commercial coal mining and lure private investment, Ministry of Coal is organizing a roadshow at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Commercial Coal Mine Auction and Investment Opportunities. This grand event aims at bringing all stakeholders from the industry, potential investors and policymakers together to enhance the participation of the private sector in the coal sector in India.
The Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey is the Chief Guest for the function. Accompanying him will be Ms Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and senior officials from the Ministry to brief about the auction process, investment scenario, and government initiatives to promote growth in the sector.
The Ministry of Coal is keeping stakeholders engaged in a series of roadshows for commercial coal mining. The previous two programs conducted in Kolkata and Mumbai were quite successful, and the current program aims at attracting the attention of potential investors and industry leaders. The coal sector in India has received a shot in the arm with the auction of its 12th round of commercial coal mines, formulated to begin in the second week of March, which will further reiterate the resolve of the Government to enhance domestic coal production, thereby ensuring energy security.
The roadshow aims to highlight the initiatives taken by the Government to enhance coal production, increase efficiency, policy support and promote self-reliance in the sector. Participants would be briefed about the availability of coal blocks, investment opportunities, and the ease of doing business in the coal industry, also with an eye on advancements in coal technology, sustainability measures, and policy reforms aimed at promoting a transparent and competitive marketplace.
Commercial coal mine auctions have been instrumental in unleashing the true potential of India’s coal reserves and opened up markets for domestic and international players and reduce import dependency.
