The Kotdwara Branch of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and BEML Ltd have entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) today (April 4, 2024), to collaboratively develop a Train Management Control System (TMCS) domestically, in line with the Make in India initiative of the Government of India, to cater to the demands of Rail & Metro systems. Mr. Manoj Jain, Director (Research & Development) at BEL, and Mr. Shiva Kumar HG, Chief General Manager (Research & Development) for Rail & Metro at BEML Ltd, endorsed the MoA in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The purpose of the MoA is to pinpoint potential areas of cooperation between the two entities and investigate avenues for jointly crafting high-value solutions that align with the needs of Indian Railways and Metro systems, leveraging each other’s strengths. The Train Management Control System (TMCS) acts as the ‘Central Nervous System’ of the train, assuming a pivotal role in governing and overseeing various onboard systems. These systems primarily encompass computational devices, software, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) interfaces, input/output capabilities, and data network components. Interconnection among these systems is established through a secure, resilient network. Presently, the TMCS is procured from overseas sources, primarily supplied by propulsion providers to fulfill the requirements of Rail & Metro systems in the nation.
