Jindal Steel has commissioned the Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace–II, one of India’s largest and most advanced blast furnaces, marking a major leap in the country’s steelmaking capabilities.
The new furnace positions Angul as the largest single-location steel plant in Odisha, a key step toward Jindal Steel’s plan to expand its steelmaking capacity to 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Company officials highlighted that the commissioning aligns with Atmanirbhar Bharat goals and strengthens India’s position in the global steel industry.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, advanced automation, and sustainability-focused design, the Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace–II is engineered to deliver higher efficiency, reduced emissions, and world-class productivity.

The inauguration included a series of on-site demonstrations and plant tours, offering glimpses of the state-of-the-art operations that are set to make Angul a central hub of India’s steel industry and a model for sustainable industrial development.
