Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted that India’s expenditure on Research and Development (R&D) has more than doubled in the last decade, from ₹60,196 crore in 2013-14 to ₹1.27 lakh crore today. Speaking at the Disha program, Dr. Singh emphasized that the country’s economic future will be shaped by domestic innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology and quantum computing.
The minister credited a government initiative to create a strong innovation ecosystem. India’s focus on intellectual property (IP) and infection of research from laboratories to industries are the main drivers of this development, who contribute to the approach of ** self -sufficient India **. Dr. Singh underlined that the initiative like ** Disha ** (development of innovation, successful exploitation and adoption) aims to promote disruptive technologies, ensuring that India remains a global innovation leader.
He also highlights the*Anandan National Research Foundation (ANRF) **, which integrates research in various subjects, empowering inter-regional cooperation. In particular, Dr. Singh pointed to a change in India’s policy of opening strategic fields such as space and nuclear research to promote technological progress and global competitiveness to private players.
Dr. Singh also discussed AI’s transformational capacity in healthcare, in which AI-managed mobile telemedicine units are improving access to health care in remote areas. He insisted that AI must be there To ensure that professionals remain central in important areas, complement human expertise, not replace.
Given the centenary of India in 2047, Dr. Singh urged the young newcomers to lead the country’s technological change. With continuous investment in intensive technology research, India is leading towards emerging as a global manufacturer and exporter of state -of -the -art solutions.
