Faculty and course members of the 65th National Defence College (NDC) Course met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Addressing the gathering, the President highlighted that national interests and objectives form the foundation of a nation’s security framework, adding that universal values remain central to India’s approach. She said India’s civilisational ethos has always upheld the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world as one family — promoting peace and universal brotherhood, while maintaining preparedness to counter forces that threaten humanity and national integrity.

The President commended the Armed Forces for their strategic foresight and joint operational strength demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, describing it as a model of tri-service coordination that successfully dismantled terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and beyond.

Underscoring the importance of jointness in modern warfare, she noted that the creation of the Department of Military Affairs and the appointment of the Chief of Defence Staff have been key milestones. She added that ongoing efforts to establish Integrated Theatre Commands and Integrated Battle Groups are vital to ensuring seamless coordination and operational efficiency across the services.

President Murmu observed that the evolving geopolitical and security environment demands dynamic, technology-driven responses. She expressed satisfaction that India’s Armed Forces are being transformed into a technologically advanced, multi-domain integrated force, capable of addressing contemporary and future challenges.

Praising the National Defence College for its global reputation, the President said the institution has become a benchmark for strategic learning and leadership training. She expressed confidence that the NDC’s international course continues to foster mutual understanding, cooperation, and partnerships among nations in areas of defence and security.
