Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has handed over seven indigenously developed technologies under its Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to the Indian Armed Forces, marking a significant push toward defence self-reliance. The handover took place during the Empowered Committee meeting held at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, on 02 December 2025, chaired by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO. Senior officials from the Armed Forces, the Department of Defence Production and DRDO were also present.
Technologies transferred include an Indigenous High-Voltage Power Supply for Airborne Self-Protection Jammers, a Tide-Efficient Gangway for Naval Jetties, Advanced VLF–HF Switching Matrix Systems, VLF Loop Aerials for Underwater Platforms, an Indigenous Waterjet Propulsion System for Fast Interceptor Craft, a Novel Lithium Precursor Recovery Process from Used Li-ion Batteries, and a Long-Life Seawater Battery System for underwater surveillance. All these systems have been designed and rigorously tested by Indian industry partners with guidance from DRDO experts, reinforcing the TDF’s objective of promoting import substitution and critical technology development.
During the meeting, the Committee also approved 12 new projects spanning strategic, aerospace, naval and electronic warfare domains. The discussions focused on expediting end-to-end project processing and aligning development cycles with the evolving needs of the Services. The Committee emphasised policy alignment, streamlined acquisition pathways and faster induction of successful technologies to ensure timely deployment.
Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the DRDO Chairman highlighted the importance of accelerating indigenous defence innovation through the effective implementation of the TDF scheme.
