Shri Niladri Roy, Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), delivered the keynote address at the inaugural function of the All India Seminar on “Recent Advances in Smart Mining Technologies and Resources” on July 19, 2024. The seminar, held on July 19-20, 2024, was organized by The Institution of Engineers (India), West Bengal State Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Mining Engineering at IIEST Shibpur under the aegis of the Mining Engineering Division Board, IEI.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Shri Ujjal Tah, DDG, DGMS, and Shri N. C. Dey, HoD (Mining), IIEST Shibpur, along with prominent figures from IIT-ISM Dhanbad and other notable members of the mining industry. ECL was represented by around ten executives, including Shri P. S. Dey, GM (Mining) and HoD (LRE).
In his keynote address, Shri Niladri Roy emphasized the implementation of advanced digital solutions within Coal India Limited as part of Smart Mining Technologies, highlighting the significant benefits achieved. The dignitaries engaged in an in-depth discussion about the adoption of these technological advancements in India, agreeing that the growth of the mining sector is closely linked to the nation’s progress. They emphasized the importance of a collective effort to fully leverage the benefits of Smart Mining Technologies and Resources.
