‘Nanha Sa Dil’ Initiative to Provide Free Surgeries for Children with Congenital Heart Disease
New Delhi, February 14, 2025 – On Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day, Coal India Limited (CIL) subsidiaries Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) signed MoUs with Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust (SSSHET) to provide life-saving cardiac surgeries for children under the ‘Nanha Sa Dil’ initiative.
Key Highlights:
✅ Screening & Treatment: CCL will screen 45,000 children in Jharkhand and conduct 500 surgeries, while NCL will hold 345 camps for 17,250 children, referring critical cases for advanced treatment.
✅ Impact So Far: Since its launch in March 2024, the initiative has saved 250+ lives and is now expanding to benefit more states.
✅ Future Commitment: CIL aims to save 2,000 lives in the next three years, making it a historic public sector healthcare initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Coal Secretary Shri Vikram Dev Dutt praised the initiative, stating that these efforts will enhance CIL’s goodwill while positively impacting society.
CIL has invested ₹1,673 crores in CSR over three years, focusing on healthcare, education, and rural development. ‘Nanha Sa Dil’ aims to bridge the gap in CHD treatment, offering hope and a healthier future to thousands of children across India.
