CCRH and MAHE Collaborate to Strengthen Public Health Preparedness through Biosafety Training and Research Partnership

Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), under the Ministry of Ayush, has joined hands with the Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV), part of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), to enhance India’s public health preparedness through a five-day residential workshop titled “Biosafety & Outbreak Simulation Training 2025.” The workshop, held from October 6 to 10 at MAHE, aims to strengthen biosafety practices and outbreak response capabilities among homoeopathy researchers across the country.

The specialized capacity-building initiative has been designed to train CCRH scientists in critical biosafety protocols and outbreak simulation techniques to effectively respond to health emergencies such as epidemics and pandemics. The training received an overwhelming response, drawing interest from 33 CCRH institutes and units across 22 states and union territories. After a rigorous online assessment by MIV, 30 research scientists from 14 states were selected to participate.

Inaugurating the workshop, CCRH Director General Subhash Kaushik underscored the significance of building scientific capacity through partnerships like the one between CCRH and MAHE. He noted that such collaborations play a vital role in developing a resilient healthcare system capable of addressing emerging infectious threats. He also highlighted the growing potential of homoeopathy in supporting national health responses to outbreaks.

During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between CCRH and MAHE to foster long-term collaboration in research, education, and specialized training. The MoU was exchanged between Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH, and P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE.

Delivering the keynote address, Sharath Kumar Rao K, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences) at MAHE, commended the initiative and reaffirmed MAHE’s commitment to advancing joint research and capacity-building programs that enhance India’s public health infrastructure.

The workshop was coordinated by Suhana P. Azis, Research Officer (Homoeopathy)/Scientist-II, CCRH; along with Sreekanth Gopinathan Pillai, Associate Professor; Sudheesh N., Assistant Professor; and Anup Jayaram, Lecturer from MIV, Manipal.

The training program marks a milestone in integrating homoeopathy research with modern biosafety practices — equipping scientists with the tools and knowledge needed to strengthen India’s preparedness for future health challenges.
