BSF Scales Four 6000m Peaks in Himachal & Ladakh Himalaya During Alpine Training Expedition 2025

Border Security Force (BSF) successfully concluded its **Advance High Altitude Alpine Training and Mountaineering Expedition–2025**, scaling four Himalayan peaks above 6,000 meters in Himachal and Ladakh. The **flag-in ceremony** was held at BSF Headquarters, New Delhi, where BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary praised the courage and determination of the 25-member team, which included six women climbers.

The expedition was flagged off from BIAAT, Dehradun, on 2 August 2025 by BSF Inspector General (Training) Ashok Kumar. Led by Padma Shri awardee **Loveraj Singh Dharamshaktu**, Deputy Commandant and India’s most accomplished Everest summiteer, the team achieved a remarkable series of ascents—**Mt. Yunam (6,111m)** on 11 August, **Mt. Thugje (6,128m) and Mt. Thugje East (6,080m)** on 16–17 August, and **Mt. Mentok (6,250m)** on 22–23 August.

The mission was designed to **enhance mountaineering expertise** of BSF climbers and instructors, while supporting the national **“Clean Himalaya: Save Glacier” campaign**. As part of this initiative, the team collected around **450 kg of waste** from altitudes between 14,000 and 20,500 feet, which was later handed over to the Special Area Development Authority (SADA), Keylong, Himachal Pradesh, for safe disposal.

BSF has an illustrious mountaineering legacy, with its climbers having scaled **Mount Everest twice (2006, 2018), Kanchenjunga (2008), Lhotse (2021), Manaslu (2023), and over 50 other peaks**. Its team includes one Padma Shri and three National Adventure Award winners.

Applauding the expedition, DG BSF emphasized the importance of fitness and adventure in strengthening the force. He announced a **cash award of ₹5 lakh** for the team and assured the provision of **state-of-the-art equipment and training facilities** to support BSF personnel across sporting disciplines.

This achievement not only adds to BSF’s mountaineering legacy but also reinforces its role as a champion of **environmental protection, fitness, and national pride**.
