BHU’S DR. PURABI SAIKIA SELECTED FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS VIGYAN YUVA – SHANTI SWARUP BHATNAGAR AWARD 2024

Banaras Hindu University is thrilled at the selection of Dr. Purabi Saikia, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Institute of Science, for the prestigious Vigyan Yuva – Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for the year 2024. She has been conferred the award for her remarkable contribution in the field of Environmental Science. Her areas of research expertise are plant ecology, biodiversity conservation, and soil ecology. Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Director, Institute of Science, Prof. S. M. Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, and members of the scientific fraternity of BHU have congratulated Dr. Saikia on her selection for the coveted honour. She has recently joined the BHU family as associate professor. Previously, she was working with the Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi. The Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award is presented to recognize & encourage young scientists who have made an exceptional contribution in the field of science and technology. The announcement of the awards for the year 2024 was made by the Office of The Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.
