Union Home Minister and Cooperative Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the “Workshop on Stability and Cycles” in New Delhi on March 3, 2025. The workshop focused on increasing stability and efficiency in the dairy sector in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view of ‘Sahakar with prosperity’.
In his address, Shri Shah emphasized the importance of the White Revolution 2.0, which prefer stability and cyclicity in dairy production. He mentioned the role of the region in both rural development and prosperity of small farmers, and highlighted its contribution to India becoming the world’s biggest milk producers.
Mr. Shah stressed that the dairy can help in solving the migration by providing an additional income source for farmers. He called for setting up a price chain from a broad farm to the factory within the villages and integrating small farmers into cooperatives. The minister also emphasized the need to replicate the successful micro ATM model of Gujarat to benefit the cattle rearers across the country and suggested that NABARD should expand the initiative in every district.
He also mentioned that the goal of the White Revolution 2.0 should be formed in every state and union territory to constitute state level associations, which have milk unions in 80% of the districts. Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of reducing the differences between farmers and companies, ensuring that more revenue from dairy sales go directly to the farmers.
The event, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), also highlighted initiatives like NDDB’s financial plans for small and big biogas projects. Mr. Shah reiterated that the carbon credit should be integrated into the system, so that farmers will directly benefit.
The purpose of the workshop is to promote a durable and circular approach for dairy farming, which benefits both farmers and environment.
