The Electric Truck taskforce, established by the Ministry Of Heavy Industries and led by The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT India), recently convened its second stakeholder consultation. This exclusive session, focusing on charging infrastructure within the realm of e-trucking in India, witnessed robust engagement from charge point operators, charger manufacturers, and other key stakeholders. Chaired by Dr. Hanif Qureshi, IPS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, this meeting brought together a vision for growth in the sector. Deliberations centered around identifying potential policy and market innovations crucial for the seamless integration of electric trucks across the nation. The in-depth discussion spanned critical facets including charging station deployment, infrastructural prerequisites, current status assessment, and forecasting future power demand. Insights gleaned from this collaborative exchange are poised to pave the way for a smooth transition to e-trucks in India. In line with India’s ambitious vision of Viksit Bharat, the Ministry Of Heavy Industries, in partnership with FICCI, has established this EV task force. Its mandate is to gather invaluable insights and recommendations aimed at fostering the nation’s Electric Vehicle (EV) ecosystem, driving sustainable transportation initiatives forward.
