Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi has been sworn in as a judicial member of the Lokpal. The oath was administered by Justice A. M. Khanwilkar, who serves as the Chairperson of the Lokpal of India. Additionally, Shri Pankaj Kumar and Shri Ajay Tirkey took their oaths as members of the Lokpal. The oath ceremony took place today at the Lokpal of India office in New Delhi.

These appointments come as two existing Judicial Members, namely Justice P. K. Mohanty and Justice Abhilasha Kumari, and three Members, namely Shri D. K. Jain, Smt. Archana Ramasundaram, and Shri Mahender Singh, have concluded their tenures in the Lokpal on March 26, 2024.

Before assuming the role of Judicial Member of the Lokpal of India, Shri Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi served as the Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India. Prior to that, he held the position of Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.

Shri Pankaj Kumar, a 1986 batch IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre, transitioned to the role of Lokpal Member from his previous position as Chief Secretary of Gujarat.

Shri Ajay Tirkey, a 1987 batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, joined as a Member of the Lokpal of India from his former role as Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, Government of India.
